Just LOVE Yourself!!

Hello readers!

Welcome to my new post!

How many of you have been on a plane? I'm sure many of you have been. Remember how at the beginning of the flight, the flight attendants have a short speech about what to do in case of an emergency? Well, there is a part where they tell you that incase the plane starts to fall, and the oxygen masks come down, put yours on. They tell you to put your mask on first before you help anyone else. They tell you that you need to HELP YOURSELF FIRST, because you won't be able to help anyone else if something happens to you.

Ash, what are you going on about? Who cares about the oxygen masks on planes? What does that have to with todays' post?

Well everyone, today I wanted to go over a little bit about ~Self Care~

I know, many of you have probably seen or read about a thousand articles and posts about self care and mental health and all, but I really wanted to write a post about it, so here it is.

I did a little bit of research about how others like to take care of themselves on their self care days and I would like to share these ideas with you all. I will be sharing what I like to do on my self care days as well. Now lets get started!

Oh, and by the way, this whole article may or may not include many cheesy quotes, but I like them. That being said, just overlook the cheesiness and enjoy all of this motivation and love I'm sharing with you today! <3

Take a Bath

This is my hands down favorite thing to do during a self care day! It is just so relaxing and gives me time to just do nothing and reflect. I love to throw in a cute bath bomb from Lush! if you really want to promote relaxation, throwing in a couple drops of lavender essential oil will really do the trick!

During my bath I enjoy reflecting about the day or week I had. I like to think of the positives that came out of it and I try hard not to dwell on the little mistakes I made. If I was having a really bad day or a tough week, I like to think how I can make the next days better and how to fix (If I can) any of the big mistakes I made.

10-20 minutes in the bath really helps me on some of my bad mental health days, so I highly recommend including it into your self care days/routine once in a while!

Drink!

Now hear me out! I would NEVER advise anyone to drown their problems away with alcohol!!! However, if you are over the age of 21, a glass of wine or a beer might ease some stress. It can be relaxing and nice for some self care, but be responsible.

Now, for those under the legal drinking age, or anyone really, DON'T skip over this part! You too can drink... a warm cup of tea!

Tea, coffee, or even hot cocoa can really be nice on a self care day. I love making me a warm cup of tea while cuddled up in a fuzzy blanket. The warmth of the drink and the blanket just really makes a person feel better! Putting on your favorite show or movie while being snuggled up in the warmth also helps!

Buy Yourself Flowers

I know, It sounds crazy and desperate, but litsen. Usually, people expect a significant other, or a friend, or a family member to buy them flowers. Why do people expect others to buy them flowers? Because it shows love and appericiation. You know what I think? Why wait for someone else to show they love and appreciate you? Why can't you buy YOURSELF some flowers to show how much you love and appreciate yourself.

I mean don't get me wrong, receiving flowers from others feels really good and is a really nice gesture. In fact, I get excited when someone buys me flowers! (Hint to my loved ones: a bouquet of sunflowers would look nice in my room).

It's just a totally different feeling when you go out to a shop and pick out your favorite flowers and bring them home to put in your room. I did it once, and wish I did it more often, because it is just an amazing feeling! Seeing those flowers on my desk just showcased how much I care for myself and it truly put a smile on my face every time.

Dear Diary, I think I love... myself?

Writing is such a great way improve ones mental health! It is such a stress reliever and gives you a great sense of control as well. You can write about anything you want! Write about your day, write a short story, start a blog...(seriously, this whole blog thing is really helping with my mental health!) Literally anything!

One thing I know that helps me, and a lot of other people I know, is writing your plans. It does not even have to be more then a couple bullet points. I like to write down what I have planned for the next day or next week. I also like writing out any deadlines or due dates I have. Sometimes, If I don't want to write, or I am too lazy to look for a pen and paper, I just type on my plans out on the notes or calendar app right on my phone!

Writing or typing out just a couple points really help with anxiety. It truly is a great stress reliever. Writing down your plans really gives you the sense of control over how tomorrow or next week will be like.

Cancel Plans

It is OK to cancel plans if you need to! If you need sometime alone and really need to focus on yourself for the day, just cancel those plans. I am sure your friends or family or whoever will understand, IF you are transparent with them.

When you do cancel, all you need to say is that you need some alone time and offer them a different day to move your plans too! Don't just blow them off or leave them hanging. That's not cool. Just let them know and they will surely be understanding.

You may feel bad for canceling, or you may even have some anxiety about making someone upset with you, but don't! You have to remember to put yourself first!

Do What YOU Want!

Hey! I know, I can't tell you what to do! You know You better than anyone else does!

If you want to run a marathon because that makes you feel better, knock your socks off!

If you want to eat a whole bucket of ice cream by yourself, go right ahead!

If you want to create a blog with no main niche or topic, be my guest! (stop asking what my blog is about...LOL!)

The whole point is to do what you want and what will make you happy! You do not need to do anything you don't want to! You need to do You! You need to take care of yourself and make sure your are the best You that You can be!

Conclusion

I want to keep this blog short and sweet, because I feel that is most effective. I really hope you enjoyed this read as much as I enjoyed writing it!

I just want to make sure everyone out there is keeping themselves and their self care a property!

REMEMBER: Put you oxygen mask on first!
